TFS Project Administrators cannot manage git repository permissions

This morning I received an email from a collegue of mine, saying that a user he configured as project administrator in TFS couldn't actually manage permissions on their git repos.
This is the error message displayed:

Apparently you have to be a member of the Project Collection Administrators group to manage permissions for git repositories.
Googling around I found that this is actually a known issue in TFS 2013.3, as described in this forum thread.

The good news is that it has been fixed in the update 4.
I hope this is also fixed in the forthcoming 2015 release...
